DANGERMAU5 concert I refer to in the Surface Video

A few of you have been asking about the DANGERMAU5 concert that I refer to in the Surface Video for Tom Dixons Underground during ICFF. It was this killer concert sponsored by Nokia that lit up the London skyline with an incredible lightshow and kick-ass music. Here is a link to check it out: http://bit.ly/vVI64C. For those of you that haven't seen Mr Call for Surface, you can see the video here: http://vimeo.com/42466697

Blogfest 2012

Blogfest 2012 was a blast. I had no idea I would have so much fun. The event was held at HEARST TOWER, and I sat on a panel with other "Next Wave" designers and Mr Newell Turner himself. The topic was 'Ah-Ha" moments - and Lord knows, I had more than a few to share. The final party of the event was held at the NEW TRADITIONALIST, where they hosted a "Rhinopalooza" party that inspired much celebration. Sharing ideas with such a great group of people was truly one of my highlihgts of 2012 to date. The unexpected reward was gaining so many meaningful friendships along the way. Thanks to everyone for making this such an amazing event.

A walk in the Flower Market

Here in New York, we have an amazing area known as the "Flower District". It's a street long row of vendors that specialize in wholesale flora (not fauna). , For designers, it's the perfect spot to pick up necessary elements for our projects.

That said and done, Mr Call is rarely enthusiastic about flowers: They are just not my cup of tea in general. While I appreciate them in other peoples homes, they are something that I find it difficult to engage in the homes I create. I generally gravitate to strong branches and big collections of greenery.

Similar to the way I furnish an interior, I look for bold scale, color-blocking and dense and intricate textures.

Below is a gallery of the type and style of flowers and plants that I like.

New York Magazine Design Issue

A little bird just whispered in my ear that Wendy Goodman included Mr Call Designs in the recent issue of New York Magazine. Can't wait to pick the issue up!!!

Palette for our Dumbo Loft: GUY BORDIN

Inspired by old Guy Bordin photographs, we wanted to apply a fashion forward color palette to the Dumbo loft. Mixing bold jewel tones with cherry red achieved this type of "naughty" colorway. Check out our inspirations and material selections
